Just like an actual corset, the corset style lacing on the back of the mask should be loosened or unlaced before putting on the mask. After the mask is positioned correctly over the front of the face the back lacing can be tightened to create a snug fit. The leather mask will stretch and mold to the contours of the face, neck, and shoulder blades with wearing.

Unlike a corset, this mask, by design, is not boned. This may potentially result in gathering down center back where lacing occurs. This is not a flaw, but rather a behavior of the leather when allowing for a natural range of motion in the neck.
