Behind the Scenes with Jay Criss!

Posted in Delicious Sideshow, Let's Hear It For The Boys!, Photo Shoots on December 8th, 2010 by Delicious Boutique

Recently Delicious had the opportunity to style a photo shoot with East Coast rapper, producer, and songwriter Jay Criss.  Criss has been in the musical underground producing beats for artists since 2001.

We had the chance to fire off a couple behind the scenes phone shots while the real photography was being conducted by Jeff Cohn of FashionAndAdvertising.com. Jay can be seen wearing styles by Junker Designs, Johnson Motors, Skingraft, Steam Trunk, Heathen, and more!

You can find out more information and listen to the sounds of Jay Criss at www.freshfuzion.com or www.facebook.com/jaycriss

Below are some of our behind the scenes snaps followed by the final shots:

Marquis Fashions hit the shelves at Delicious!

Posted in Better in Leather!, Featured Designers!, Marquis Fashions, Tastes Like Burning! on December 7th, 2010 by Delicious Boutique

Kat Marquet, Designer Marquis Fashions

Marquis Fashion was created by Costume & Fashion Designer (and high-class gypsy) Kat Marquet.  The young designer spent years creating elaborate period costumes for renegade actors in Los Angeles, outfitting circus freaks in New York, and popping into the opera in London. Kat is inspired by leather, military structure, theatrical flair, and subculture style …she is  armed with classical design training, and is driven by a need for movement and durability.  The end result, design that has been described by the LA Weekly as an “architectural marvel.”

Marquet founded Marquis Fashion in March of 2010.  It was spawned out of frustration with the lack of affordable and durable burner-themed fashion that could transcend underground style and fit into the mainstream world. Kat became “dedicated to the endless struggle of creating fashion that is eccentric yet durable and utilitarian.” The dedication continues…. Kat still accepts custom costume projects, and designs handbags freelance while working on expanding her company.

Valkyrie Bag

Marquis Fashion’s signature bags have just hit the shelves on the east coast at Delicious Boutique.  The first offerings to arrive are the classic Valkyrie Bag (shown to the right) and the Drop Holster (shown below.)

Marquet explains that “the Valkyrie Bag was inspired by the warrior women of Norse mythology for which it was named.”  She describes it as a smaller, sleeker version of the basic Drop Holster bag.  Great for the guy or gal that wants to carry just a little more then the keys/wallet/phone hands free, and also look pretty bad ass in the process. It is made of high quality buttery leather which gets better over time, and was designed with the active person in mind. Marquet assures that, “you are free to dance, swing, ride on some winged horses through the night sky….. NOTHING will fall out!”

“This little baby can carry quite a lot,” Kat boasts.  “For me personally, my record was my blackberry, massive key ring, money clip, business card holder, 2 pens, lipstick, eyeliner, moleskin notebook and a flask”

Drop Holster

Equally as functional, the Drop Holster bag is made for the true adventurer who has the tendency to get up and climb a tree or jump a fence at a moments notice. Aside from just looking cool, it is extremely functional, comfortable and utilitarian. Made of the same soft buttery leather that gets better over time, the 3 pockets are enough to carry your basic, keys / wallet / phone and so much more, while still giving you the hands free ability to do cartwheels and have nothing move or fall out.

Both bags tout a detachable thigh strap which is made of 2″ elastic and velcro.  Designed for comfort, adjustability, and to keep your belongings snug against your thigh.

Form and function meet in these fantastic utilitarian bags.. proudly hand made right here in the United States!

Delicious Boutique – Welcome to the Jungle Tribe!

Dust n Bo Blanche - Jungle Tribe

Dust n Bo Blanche - Jungle Tribe

Meet the twin brothers from Jungle Tribe, the newest design team to become part of the Delicious family!

Dust and Bo Blanche, the artistic masterminds behind Jungle Tribe describe themselves as “2 parts goofy, 2 parts punk rock, and 2 parts rad”, (that’s 6 parts between two guys.. not bad at all!)   They are kind of hard to miss, as once the hawked twin towers are staring down on you, you will feel their penetrating presence.  But don’t be mislead by their hard core appearance, as they are actually humble, gentle dudes.  Maybe its because they are Canadian and are afraid to not live up to their reputation.  Whatever the case, Delicious is honored to be showcasing some of their new gear and have them on board our amazing team of independent designers!

The brothers when asked about their inspiration: “We could go onto bore you with fuzzy details of what inspires us, but that is overdone because we all know that inspiration comes from everywhere.  People often try and put a label on our work, but I don’t really think that we can.  The truth is that we don’t fit into one mold, or one look.  Instead we just keep on going on tangents and cranking out new stuff.  Everyday our goal is just to create, that is really all we ever want to do.  Running a business and everything  else that goes with it just really isn’t as important.  We can’t hide our addiction for spending time in our workshop, and I guess it is starting to show.  If I was to take a snap shot of all the stuff we have produced in the last 5 years and put it all together on one page, it would really look like one crazy hell of a crazy ride.”

Looking at the new Jungle Tribe gear, there is no doubt that crazy rides are what these dudes are truly all about.  Whether its a fantasy fetish, a burning blast, or a rock star gala, these guys got you covered.  Welcome to the jungle.

Ratredz Scarification Hoodie Elf Hood

Ratredz Scarification Hoodie with Elf Hood

Think gutter pixie punks on bikes.  The original concept for Ratredz clothing was to provide necessary and until now unavailable gear for travelers.  Design concepts included rugged wearing, hard washing fabrics, stash pockets, wearability and of course, style.  Since the first collection in 1996 the challenge has been to stay abreast of the changing world.

Ratredz Corset Top

Ratredz explains, “We work with the best materials that we can get our hands on: strong, light, flexible and durable.  We use heavy washes to soften our canvases, hard wearing inks and precarious techniques for our prints and the very best quality hardware available.  You can take this gear on the road and ride it into the ground.”

“Our evolution has taken us from selling on roadsides from Australia to Berlin, peddling in cafes in the Himalaya, to complementing the finest market places and boutiques in the World.  We aim to remain seductive, illusive and darkly psychedelic.”

Created by designer, Dara Malekottodjary, Ratredz is complemented by art projects ranging from festival decoration and large scale tents to more currently a series of marionettes.

The Ratredz design, production and delivery team consists of people in many walks of life and from many countries.  At present most of the production happens in Bali, Indonesia.  Locals and foreigners collaborate to effect our final product.   Delicious Boutique is excited to be the exclusive Philadelphia stockist for Ratredz…  You can find our current selection of Ratredz Mens and Ratredz Womens designs on the Delicious Boutique website We hope you like the new collection as much as we do!

Featured Artist: Kencredible

Posted in Events, Events, Events!, Featured Artists, First Fridays! on January 27th, 2010 by Delicious Boutique

Kencredible, AKA Ken Penn, will be our featured artist at Delicious Boutique for First Friday in both February and March!  Whoa!!!, a double header!  When you see his photography you’ll understand why.  He’s showcased the designers of Delicious Boutique quite often, and below you can see a sneak peek of his work along with his artists bio.

Ken Penn’s photographic work began while attending high school in Richmond, VA — a city on the James River with a rich art scene and history. It was the late 80’s and Penn’s original subjects were the punk rock bands emerging in the Washington, D.C., Virginia Beach and Richmond area. After high school, Penn attended the Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) Art Foundation, which has repeatedly been ranked the #1 public university school of arts and design in the country by U.S. News & World Report. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and continued to cultivate his interest in photography during his time at VCU.

Penn’s experience ranges from well known non-profit organizations to multimillion dollar household brands such as Circuit City Stores Inc. Always eager to try something new, Penn has never been afraid to take on any task, and in 2007 he photographed the Senior PGA Golf Tournament held on Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. His subjects range from fashion to fine art to entertainment, with a strong emphasis on fashion.

With fashion photography being a strong focus of his work, Penn has worked with a long list of independent designers and models around the United States, Canada and Europe, and is currently in the process of establishing a name for himself within the high fashion industry.

Ken is considered an artist by those who know him. He has developed an avant-garde flair in his work. Whether it is ironic conceptual contrasts to haunting dramatic light, Ken hopes to invoke thought or emotion with every image.

Specializing in bringing you the “epic” shot you have been waiting for, Ken Penn is pushing boundaries.

Penn was born in Lynchburg, VA. in 1972 and currently resides in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia, PA.

Be sure to check out the First Friday exhibit of Ken’s work at Delicious Boutique on Friday Feb. 5th and Friday March 5th from 6 – 9pm at Delicous Boutique. Special extended hours and discounts at both locations, Delicious Boutique and Delicious Sideshow on the Piazza at Schmidts.
